I am new to the blogging world. I'm not a big fan of sports forum's on the internet. My beef? People can say and post almost anything and there is very little accountability. Ask coach Becker. One South Dakota Sports Forum page had someone post that he was going to Sturgis to be the next boys basketball coach. Problem was, he never applied for the job and never intended to apply. He told me if Duke came calling, he might consider leaving, but they haven't and He is still the Governors head boys basketball coach today. Oh well.
We have a big junior golf tournament in Pierre today. Over 100 kids entered. It's part of the SDGA junior tour. Two Pierre kids, Cody Kuehl and Miles Schock lead or share the lead in the points standings of their age divison and their region. There are some other area golfers doing well also. I have a listing in a story in today's My Daily News. Also, Hillsview Golf Course, our municipal golf course here in Pierre, is closed today to public tee times. Guess there is another tournament scheduled to tee off after the juniors get done.
Today is also a rare day in baseball in Pierre. There is not a game scheduled at Hyde Stadium!!! So the outfield and infield grass can rest before the Rattlers amatuer's get back on it tomorrow night and then of course the Koester Legion tournament over the weekend. And speaking of tournaments, the men's City League slow pitch softball tournament is this weekend down at the Oahe Softball Complex. Busy sports weekend.
